Anybody may make a gift of up to $10,000 per year to as many people as they like. They do not have to be related in any way. If you RECEIVE gifts from many people, you do not have to report any income tax as long as each gift was for $10,000 or less (in the aggregate for that tax year) from EACH individual. Once the $10,000 threshold is reached, you will need to consult the taxing authorities in order to determine whether or not the giver AND the recipient must pay their "share" of any gift or income taxes.
