Except that this isn't what happens. Try inflating some latex balloons with CO2 (use a chemical reaction with baking soda to generate it) and compare them to helium balloons. It's amazing to see how quickly the CO2 balloons shrivel up.
Note: balloons made of mylar or other materials might behave more in line with theory, but CO2 escapes from latex balloons quickly.
