Best Answer

Biofuels all have some degree of viability. However, there are situations where they may prove to be less than ideal, such as in particularly cold temperatures, where they're particularly vulnerable to gelling.

What is an alternative material for making paper?

Hemp is a great alternative for making paper. but when you burn it it will make everyone high =P

Can hemp be used as fuel?

Yes. any biological plant based material can be converted into fuel, In the case of hemp it is potentially a source of bio-diesel fuels and can be burned as a solid or pelletized fuel. Strangely enough the confusion between hemp and marijuana in many legislators minds has created imaginary problems with the use of this plant in many applications.

What is biodiesel?

Biodiesel is a fuel derived from plants. It is an alternative fuel to standard fossil fuels, that can be made from fats and vegetable oils. It contains no petroleum or petroleum-products. If made correctly, it can be used in diesel engines with few or no modifications. The diesel engine as we know it today was originally designed to run on mineral oil, but was able to operate on vegetable oil just as well, later Mr Diesel agreed that peanut oil was a viable alternative. The french government sponsored the peanut oil alternative at the 1900 Paris Exhibition. Vegetable oil, (essentially the original biodiesel), rather than the petroleum-based diesel fuels that tend to be used today was the fuel of choice for the engine. There was even a push to use Hemp oil; manufacturing processes were even perfected for its use before it was banned.

What fuel does a Model T Ford run on?

The Model T's engine was capable of running off of gasoline as well as ethanol. I've also heard a fact that the Model T could run off of hemp oil, but this seems a little hoaxed.

Are there alternatives to crude oil?

there are many alternatives, one being vegetable oil, hemp and bio fuelsEdit bmdunster: Source - (http://environment.about.com/od/fossilfuels/tp/top_alt_fuels.htm)1. Ethanol as an Alternative Fuel.Ethanol is an alcohol-based alternative fuel that is made by fermenting and distilling crops such as corn, barley or wheat. Ethanol can be blended with gasoline to increase octane levels and improve emissions quality. 2. Natural Gas as an Alternative FuelNatural gas is an alternative fuel that burns clean and is already widely available to people in many countries through utilities that provide natural gas to homes and businesses. When used in natural gas vehicles-cars and trucks with specially designed engines-natural gas produces far fewer harmful emissions than gasoline or diesel. 3. Electricity as an Alternative FuelElectricity can be used as a transportation alternative fuel for battery-powered electric and fuel-cell vehicles. Battery powered electric vehicles store power in batteries that are recharged by plugging the vehicle into a standard electrical source. Fuel-cell vehicles run on electricity that is produced through an electrochemical reaction that occurs when hydrogen and oxygen are combined. Fuel cells produce electricity without combustion or pollution. 4. Hydrogen as an Alternative FuelHydrogen can be mixed with natural gas to create an alternative fuel for vehicles that use certain types of internal combustion engines. Hydrogen is also used in fuel-cell vehicles that run on electricity produced by the petrochemical reaction that occurs when hydrogen and oxygen are combined in the fuel "stack." 5. Propane as an Alternative FuelPropane-also called liquefied petroleum gas or LPG-is a byproduct of natural gas processing and crude oil refining. Already widely used as a fuel for cooking and heating, propane is also a popular alternative fuel for vehicles. Propane produces fewer emissions than gasoline, and there is also a highly developed infrastructure for propane transport, storage and distribution. 6. Biodiesel as an Alternative FuelBiodiesel is an alternative fuel based on vegetable oils or animal fats, even those recycled after restaurants have used them for cooking. Vehicle engines can be converted to burn biodiesel in its pure form, and biodiesel can also be blended with petroleum diesel and used in unmodified engines. Biodiesel is safe, biodegradable, reduces air pollutants associated with vehicle emissions, such as particulate matter, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons. 7. Methanol as an Alternative FuelMethanol, also known as wood alcohol, can be used as an alternative fuel in flexible fuel vehicles that are designed to run on M85, a blend of 85 percent methanol and 15 percent gasoline, but automakers are no longer manufacturing methanol-powered vehicles. Methanol could become an important alternative fuel in the future, however, as a source of the hydrogen needed to power fuel-cell vehicles. 8. P-Series Fuels as Alternative FuelsP-Series fuels are a blend of ethanol, natural gas liquids and methyltetrahydrofuran (MeTHF), a co-solvent derived from biomass. P-Series fuels are clear, high-octane alternative fuels that can be used in flexible fuel vehicles. P-Series fuels can be used alone or mixed with gasoline in any ratio by simply adding it to the tank.

What general statement can you make about the supply of fossil fuel?

How does hemp help your environment?

Hemp is a naturally grown plant with the power to be a more eco-friendly alternative to many things we use in today's world, including clothing, paper, rope, and even food! It is better for the environment, especially on the paper side, hemp grows every season (which is a lot quicker than trees!), it also produces more oxygen than trees do.

Where does hemp fabric come from?

Hemp fabric is made from fibers from the hemp plant. Hemp is a high growing variety of the Cannabis plant.

Why should cannabis stay illegal?

Because it will cause temporary failure as hemp can be used for fuel, paper, and other necessary things.

Why can you wear a shirt made out of hemp but not possess hemp in SC?
