Its not fatal in the sense that you completely recover from it at home without medical treatment , in addition to symptomatic treatment , just take bed rest with good diet low in fats along with fruit juices. Mortality is rare, only 0.1% and that only happens when hepatitis A complicates into Fulminate hepatic failure
