The question is a little confusing.
Genital herpes, HSV II, does stay in the body and is not curable, but neither do you always have sores. There are good periods of time between outbreaks.
Cold sores are caused by the HSV I virus. Technically, if a person has EVER had a cold sore, they now carry the HSVI virus in their bodies. Again, the herpes simplex virus is not curable. But MOST people at some point in their lives, usually as a kid, have had a cold sore. They do not have cold sores all the time.
Chicken pox is another strain of herpes.
Unfortunately yes. The herpes virus is always with you. However, the symptoms can be treated, to increase heal time and decrease the number of out breaks.
Herpes is a permanent disease.
If you mean the family that includes genital herpes, I thought they were permanent. But if they aren't, I doubt that you can get it again. The body will most likely learn how to recognize, defeat, & stop it right away if it enters your body again.
Herpes can be on your cheek.
Herpes zooster can cause shingles. This type of herpes causes chicken pox. It's slightly different then the herpes that causes cold sores and genital herpes. If you have had chicken pox as a child then you could possibly get shingles later in life.
