Not really, you won't get a job.
Just simply saying "you won't get a job" isn't the whole story. While a bachelor's degree in history is pretty worthless, so are a lot of other bachelor's degrees (English, Philosophy, &Sociology among others) There are some scattered intern jobs, but to really be making money you have to further your education. If you are interested in grad school and/or teaching, you have options. Although the teaching field is struggling at the moment, it goes in cycles like most things and will improve in the near future. There will always be a demand for teachers, period.
I'm a history major and have plans to further my education in grad school to study library science (which will more than likely get me a job) so no, it's not true that majoring in history won't get you a job. It's a flexible major and as such, your options are not cut & dry. It can require you to be a bit more creative with how you want to pursue a career and such. But if you're looking for a 4 year program that will get you a job right out of college, I wouldn't recommend history.
it is important to know the major events that changed our country's history that way we become good citizens

Good question, but based on your inability to create a coherent English sentence should steer you clear of that major also.
