Hughes Net does indeed provide reliable satellite and internet services to both urban and rural areas. Outages still do occur, but as with any such infrastructure, unexpected events do happen.
NO! Hughesnet is horrible! The only time you get the really high speeds that they advertise is when no one else is online (such as after midnight when everyone else is asleep. My everyday download speeds on Hughesnet were under 200K for most of the day If you live in a remote area where good high speed service, such as Comcast internet, is not available. then I would recommend you try Verizon 3G MiFi as your service provider. You will get much faster speeds with 3G than ANY of the internet satellite companies. The Verizon packages are limited like the satellite packages, meaning that you can only use so much per month, but at least with Verizon you get much better service for the money. It is important to understand that any limited internet service is NOT for streaming or downloading large movie files, so services like Netflix streaming or Video on Demand would not work for limited internet access. You would have to live in an area that provides UNLIMITED high speed internet access for movie streaming. If Verizon 3G doesn't cover your area either, then check the other cell phone companies to see if they have 3G coverage with internet options.
Hughes Satellite internet seems like a very good value. You can get internet for individuals or your business. You may first want to try the dealer locator to see if there are any Hughes dealers in your area.
Hughes Net Internet services has many mixed reviews. According to most reviews, the service is not that good and customer service is very bad.
HughesNet satellite internet is "super-fast" and "always on". There are several plans available to suit everyone's requirements. The cost does vary.
Excede Internet and HughesNet received the best ratings for Satellite Internet providers. Excede has the fastest speeds. The only downside of HughesNet is that they don't offer any bundle packages.

There are several great broadband internet providers, including Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, HughesNet, Charter, and Century Link. Some business broadband internet providers are Megapath and Windstream.
There are two main factors that can slow down your HughesNet satellite Internet download speeds. The first is peak times and the second is FAP limits. Peak times for HughesNet satellite Internet are those periods when many users are sharing the same bandwidth. Typically this begins when people arrive home from work (around 4 PM) and lasts until they all hit the sack (around 10 PM). Weekends are also consider peak time periods. Using HughesNet, or any satellite Internet provider, during peaks times is going to result in slower download speeds simply because of network bandwidth congestion at those times. For faster downloads of big files, it's best to start them during the early morning hours. They'll usually go a lot faster. The other issue is FAP (fair access policy) limits. If you exceed your allotted daily bandwidth limit, HughesNet will slow your download speeds to 56 Kbps (dial up speed) until the next 24 hour period begins. This is done to keep a handful of satellite Internet users from hogging all the bandwidth in a particular area and slowing down the service for everyone else in that area. If your downloads are particularly slow on any given day, you may have exceeded your daily HughesNet FAP limit. Just FYI, HughesNet has a three-hour download period from 3 AM to 6 AM that doesn't apply towards your FAP limit. Again, it's better to do big file downloads in those early morning hours . . . you'll stay within your FAP limit and avoid the slow download speeds at peak times.
Yes but there is lag, not for you but for other people and really ruins the game for them so you really shouldn't
