Yes and no. Social Work (and in the context which I'm referring to, residential case management) is highly interactive in nature, and when implemented as it is should be (but often isn't), it achieves those same ends as interactive psychotherapy. With all that said, it doesn't make sense to have adults play with Barbie dolls and analyze them while they do it.
In a clinical setting, anything that serves as a middle man between the consumer and the therapist is interactive in nature. The consumer knows full well that whatever they're doing is symbolic of the issues he or she faces. While x-activity may be therapeutic in and of itself, the activity is wide open to interpretation.
