90,000 Should be the correct replacement mileage
The timing belts on older Toyota 4Runner models are rated to last approximately 60000 miles. Going to long without changing them can result in a damaged engine.
I checked Fords scheduled maintainence guide and the Gates website ( they make timing belts etc. ) for the 2000 Ford Ranger , and both sites show to INSPECT the timing belt at 120,000 miles and CHANGE IF NECESSARY for the 2.5 liter - 4 cylinder engine in a 2000 Ford Ranger
You suppose to change it every 60000 miles, and as maximum as you can go. And it's in the case when you have a good quality transmission fluid.
Change it every 100,000 miles.
