Is it God's will that everyone be healed?

The question should really be, why does God never heal anyone. If God heals anyone qt all, we should expect Christians to recover from illness or surgery more readily than others, yet this simply does not happen. For all our prayers, there is no evidence of miracles.

If it is indeed God's will that everyone be healed, then his powers are limited. Those who live in poor communities are often unlikely to be healed, simply because they can not afford man-made medicines and treatment. Even in wealthy societies, healing usually depends on access to man-made medicines and treatment.

A scientifically controlled study of whether intercessory prayer results in better outcomes from surgery was conducted by the John Templeton Foundation in 2005. If intercessory prayer results in better outcomes it is possible that God wills people to be healed if people pray to him. The trial concluded that intercessory prayer did not result in better outcomes from surgery. Since intercessory prayer does not result in better outcomes for the seriously ill, we can conclude one of three things:

• There is no God;
• God does not will everyone to be healed even when people pray to him;
• Whether or not it is God's will that everyone be healed, he is powerless to assist.
