It would however give the other spouse a strong argumen for whatever he sought concerning the dissolution of the marriage; such as custody of minor children, spousal maintenance, and so forth.

I AM a Christian and was married when younger to a verbal/physical abuser and I tried in my marriage for 3 1/2 years, but it takes two. I always believed once you were married you were married for life. However, God expects both parties in a marriage to have respect for each other and I doubt very much it's a sin (I don't feel guilty) to have tried in a marriage such as mine and divorced.
