Any thing that was against God, the church, the Pope or a king.
Catholics are not "against" anybody except the devil and his angels (the demons); thus Catholics are against evil. Catholics could be said to be against the Assemblies of God in that they do not believe that they are the true Church established by Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, as there was only one of those and it certainly was not a protestant church that wasn't established until the twentieth century, but they are most certainly NOT against the people in them, and believe whole-heartedly that any baptized Christian who is sincerely trying to follow God is on the right track and will, of course, end up in the Catholic Church as that is the Church that Jesus Christ, Himself, founded.

God is not Church and Church is not God. Each person has their own relationship with God and it doesnt rely on whether you go to Church or not, its all about how you live your life. You can be close to God anywhere because God is everywhere.
The Catholic Church wasn't happy. For a thousand years they had controlled government and society. They were the connection between man and God. The idea that man could seek God for himself was against the church doctrine. They were loosing control.
