Only if the gloves aren't clean ! There's no telling what chemicals may be on them. On the other hand (no pun intended) if you have a particularly aggressive snake, that's not used to being handled, using gardening gloves will lessen the chance of the snakes teeth biting into your hand. Most snakes quickly become accustomed to being handled - then you can discard the gloves.

It's venomous, but that does not make it bad. Some snakes are more beneficial to man than sea snakes, but they all serve a purpose.

Probably best to leave them alone to get on with it. As the old skin separates, it becomes uncomfortable - and the snake mayturn bad-tempered (I've had experience of that !). Just leave them be until they've shed.
