Yes, it is very bad. When you run a microwave oven without any food inside, there is nothing to absorb the microwaves and they build up inside the cooking chamber. Eventually, something has to absorb them and that something is the oven's microwave source-its magnetron. The magnetron isn't good at handling excessive power that returns to it from the cooking chamber and it can be damaged as a result.
In all my years of experimenting with microwave ovens, I've only killed a magnetron once. But then again, I haven't run a microwave oven for more than a minute or two without anything inside it. If the oven works again after cooling down, then you're probably OK. The oven may have thermal interlocks in its microwave source to prevent that source from overheating and becoming a fire hazard. If the oven fails to work after an hour of cooling off, then you're probably out of luck. The magnetron and/or its power supply are likely to be fried and in need of replacement.
the microwave will get really hot
Uneven heating by microwaves inside oven. A turntable should help.
If you place it inside and turn the oven on, I presume that the card will be damaged.
Unless the child manages to get inside the microwave and turn it on, it is safe for children. And, yes, the microwave door needs be shut for the microwave to operate.
Microwave energy is electromagnetic (EM) radiation, and microwave ovens use energy at a frequency of about 2450 MHz (2,450 million cycles per second). This energy is in the microwave band of frequencies, hence the term microwave oven. The frequency is a good choice, because it is quite effective in causing dielectric heating in molecules in the food. This is because there are a lot of molecules within the food that will respond to the microwave energy. These molecules, because they have an electric dipole, will attempt to align themselves with the passing electromagnetic wave. They will be trying to turn back and forth at that 2450 MHz, and this generates heat, which warms/cooks the food.
Give them a turn or stir every couple of minutes to ensure they are cooked all the way through.
yes they can my microwave has been starting to turn it self on and cooks with nothing inside till I stop it , it keeps reseeting itself to start cooking again till you stop it , this is a obvious risk do to fire and microwave needs to be unplugged right away and thrown out and buy a new one , HUGE FIRE RISK !!!!
nothing.
I have never had cheese turn purple when I microwave it. Sounds like b.s.
yes
My best guess is that some of the sugar inside the vegetables caramelizes with the heat, turning the vegetables brown.
cooking on propane has nothing to do with it. The reason your egg yolks turn is because they eggs have been cooked too long.
