Well, there are some that say it is better as the A-leves are too easy... I have no experience with A-levels myself, but whether or not you should do the IB (if that is what you are asking) comes down to you as a person. IB is not for everyone, and if you are going to do it, you must do it for your self. Universities do not in general prefere IB students, and getting into Oxbridge e.g. can be much harder for IB students, as they can require 43 (or more?) out of 45 points (I'm still going to try).

I would never do anything but the IB myself:)

Explain why you want to be part of the International Baccalaureate program?

There are many reasons to become a student of the International Baccalaureate program for a few reasons. Firstly, it is a very advanced program. Students who go through the International Baccalaureate program are more prepared for college. I know this because the average drop in GPA from high school to college for alumni of my International Baccalaureate school is significantly smaller that the average drop in GPA from high school to college for alumni of other schools in my area. Secondly, it is widely recognized. The IB diploma is recognized in most countries around the world. Thirdly, the foreign language program is emphasized. All students of the International Baccalaureate are required to test in a foreign language. At my school, we are required to take 4 years of a foreign language and 1 year of studying the culture of that language, as opposed to the two years required at other schools in my area. This emphasis on foreign language is fun and looks great in a resume. Finally, the IB diploma can give a student Advanced Credit for many colleges and universities.

What is an IB score?

An IB score is the score you get after you have taken your IB (International Baccalaureate) exam. It's similar to the American AP or British A levels. You can either take diploma or certificate, and it's a two year course. If you take the diploma programme than the Ib score is out of 45. You will take 6 subjects that are marked out of 7 and the last three points can be awarded with getting a good grade on your TOK presentation and extended essay.

What is the International Baccalaureate?

The International Baccalaureate is a high school degree that is accepted in many countries. The International Baccalaureate, or IB, is different from an American high school diploma for many reasons. Firstly, it requires all students to take a well-rounded course load. Each student MUST study a foreign language, a science, a math, a social science, and a literature class and one other class. They also have to select 3 classes to take at a standard level and 3 classes to take at a higher level. Secondly, each class is two years long and required that students turn in assessments during these years. Each class has a final test, but also has other requirements, such as oral commentaries, student designed labs, or compositions. Thirdly, there are requirements beyond these classes. Each student writes a 10 page research paper outside of school, takes a class called "Theory of Knowledge," and completes 50 hours each of Creative activities, Physical Activity, and Community Service. The IB was started by the League of Nations so that diplomat's children, who lived outside of their native country, could receive a standardized education that would allow them to return to their native country for college.
