The answer - no, you don't need to run premium over regular gas unless your engine manufacturer calls to use non-ethanol fuel or if you're having problems using E10. It also depends on what type of small engine you're talking about. E10 will destroy all 2-cycle small lawn equipment or bikes because it strips away of the lubricating effects of the oil. E10 doesn't affect 4 stroke engines as much, but still will degrade fuel system components because of it's high solvency. I suggest looking at your engine's manual to see what the recommended fuel type is or visit www.fueltestkit.com.
If you're having problems using E10 I would suggest using Eth-Guard, the complete fuel additive for ethanol problems. Eth-Guard is safe in all engines and does not contain harmful ingredients such as alcohol, MMT, TEL, MTBE or lead. Eth-Guard will lubricate fuel system components (great for 2 cycle), increase the enerfy of the fuel (increasing mileage and performance) and will prevent phase separation in most applicatons.
To view Eth-Guard visit: www.e10gasadditives.com/product_ethguard.html
To view a list of other additives and their MSDS's visit: www.e10gasadditives.com/fuel_additive_list.html
As you can see many other additives contain harmful ingredients such as excess alcohol, MMT, MTBE and lead. I would not recommend using any of these in E10 as it can destroy vital engine parts, gaskets and seals.
Yes, you can. Premium is recommended, but not required. If you intend to keep the car for a long period of time, the engine will operate better with premium.
Premium burn hotter so will give better performance.
Premium gasoline is rated between 91 and 93 octane, while regular is rated at 87 octane. The octane rating is the resistance of the gasoline to igniting, and higher compression engines need higher octane rating to prevent pre-detonation or pinging. Check your owner's manual to see if you need premium or can run the less expensive regular.
At least 91% octane or better. So premium
the book said regular grade but i find it runs better on 89 or better
directv, better programming, local ,regular, premium, sports,hd and international and better price
Computer is set for premium, and it performs much better on premium.I have a supra turbo tried both, went back to premium better mileage and performance.
The good thing about the x3 is that it's a more reliable BMW than other BMWs. You can have the option of using regular or premium without damaging it. But even tho regular is cheaper, you get less miles to the gallon than premium. So it pretty much balances out. It's a better idea to use premium.
The Acadia only needs regular 87 octane fuel. It is a myth that Premium will give you better mileage, power, or performance than Regular. If it is pinging on 87 octane then something is wrong with the timing of the engine.
Yes you can use Regular Gas. However, it's been my experience that using Premium is best. You get better mpg and just an overall better driving experience.
On what Vortec engine you are talking about. The vast majority do not require the use of Premium fuel. Use exactly what your owner's manual lists. Using Premium in an engine designed to run on Regular is a waste of money and provides no benefit whatsoever. No more power, no better mileage, nothing! Anyone who tells you different is buying into the myth, and that is all it is, a Myth. But if the engine requires Premium then use Premium. Using Regular in an engine designed for premium will cause engine damage due to what is commonly called pinging. On what Vortec engine you are talking about. This Is All Hype. Both Regular and so Called Premium Gasoline Is All But The Same. Difference They Charge You More. Use What You Want. But No Premium Isn`t Any Better For Your Car. YES it is they go by the octain 87-88-89, the more octain the more potent the gas
