That depends.

First of all, healthier than what?

Second, if you are giving up meat, dairy and eggs, and just adding processed, fat-laden substitutes, then it is likely not appreciably healthier.

If you are moving to plant based whole foods, and whole natural grains, it will be healthier.

It does not have to be expensive, either. Beans, potatoes and rice, are inexpensive staples. Add fruits, vegetables and greens and you'll be good to go.
