Water is at its most dense at around 4 degrees C. Ice would float best in water of this temperature. 4C=39 Fahrenheit.

Cold water. It isn't going to make much of a difference, but cold water is more dense then hot water and will support more.

If cold water is denser than hot water then how can you float in a warm water?

The difference in water density (hot-cold) is very small, compared to the difference in density between water of any temperature, and your body. That is, even hot water is more dense that we are, so we still float.

Does ice float in cold water?

Yes ice will float in cold water or any water for the matter. For example icebergs are in fridge cold water (for the ocean can be extremely cold because of the salt and thus takes a colder temperature to freeze) and this still are afloat. Ice will actually float in warm or hot water for a bit until it is dissolved. So yes it can float in any sort of water despite the temperature.

Can a toy boat float in cold water better than in warm water?

There is no difference on how well a toy boat will float in water depending upon the temperature. The ability for an object to float is if it can displace more than its own weight in water, which doesn't depend on the temperature of the water.

What is the densest cold salt water warm salt water cold fresh water warm fresh water?

Cold Salt Water is the densest. When there is less heat in a liquid, the particles are closer together. The salt also saturates the water and makes it even denser. That's why boats float better in Cold Salt Water than in Warm Fresh Water. P.S. Next time, put commas between the options. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sources: Grade 8 Science
