It is very difficult to install any sort of shifter in manual transmission vehicles and should be done by a pro.

I assume you are talking about a manual transmission. It depends on the vehicle. A lot of vehicles have an adjustment somewhere on the transmission linkage or near the gear display.

In my owners manual it states: 1. Shift transmission into N [Neutral] 2. Shift transfer case into N [Neutral] . 3. Shift manual transmission into gear or automatic transmission into d [Drive] and make sure there is no movement. 4. Turn ignition key to the unlocked OFF position. 5. Shift automatic transmission into P. [Park]. 6. Attach vehicle to the tow vehicle with a tow bar. It states: DO NOT DISCONNECT REAR PROP SHAFT BECAUSE FLUID WILL LEAK FROM THE TRANSFER CASE AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO INTERNAL PARTS.
