As The Bible is a letter from God, and beneficial for our teaching and setting things straight, I will help you to understand who rules our world by walking you through the scriptures that answer that question.

According to 1 John 5: 19 you can read the following. " The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one. And Revelation 12: 9 describes the wicked one in these words. " The original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth".

The first Book of the Bible called Genesis in chapter 3, talks about the original serpent, which shows how soon in mamkind's history, the serpent began its career. The consequence and mankind downfall is found in Genesis 3: 16-19.

Romans 5: 12 shows how mankind was infected by sin in these words. " That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned. The word sin means " Missing or not reaching the goal or God's purpose, which was everlasting life in a perfect environment, called the garden of E'den.

Today people are under a misleading concept of life, which is no longer in harmony with what our creator had in stock for mankind. People often make their choices based on how they feel and how those around them feel about the matter.

Our concience is shaped by the values we learn from our family, peers, teachers, community, religion and culture. When we make decisions, our concience tells us whether our choice matches our values or not, but never what God's values have to say.

The Book of Jeremiah 10: 23 has this to say: " It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step" and was confirmed by the Son of God in these words in Matthew 4: 4. " Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every word that comes from Jehovah God's mouth."

So as confirmed with the scriptures above and to answer your question which is " Is it ideas that rule the world or people?

The answer is, there are only two influences. Satan's influence that is misleading the entire inhabited earth and the influence of those who have decided to live up to God's requirements. However, the outcome will not be the same.

Psalms 37: 29 reads. " The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.

Daniel 2: 44 which is a prophecy for our future talks about what God's government is going to do, in these words. " The God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom ( government ) will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all kingdoms, ( governments ) and it alone will stand forever". That is why when Jesus was on earth he told us to pray for God's kingdom to come, where His Father's will ,will be done as in heaven also on earth in Matthew 6: 9,10.

God's kingdom will undo all the harm that millenniums of human rule have done. God has given mankind enough time to come to the conclusion written in Jeremiah 10: 23, which is: "it does not belong to man even to direct his step".

For the moment the world is being ruled by the misleading spirit, God's opposer and oppenent, called Satan, but here is what 2 Peter 3: 13,14 has to say to encourage all those who love life. " But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, ( God's promise ) and in these righteousness is to dwell. Therefore, beloved ones, since you are awaiting these things, do your utmost to be found finally by him ( by God ) spotless and unblemished and in peace."
