No reason why it should be ... the memory stick is similar to storing info like this on your permanent PC drive.
About two or three games can be saved to a 2 GB memory stick.

Yes, you can play PSP games without a memory stick. However, if you're playing games from PSP UMD's (little PSP games in cases). If you want to play games saved in your PSP's hard drive, then no. So, pretty much by UMD, you can play games without a memory stick in your PSP, but you'll be unable to save.
You will need a memory stick for ALL things you want saved on the PSP.
you can't take the block off unless you reset all the MEMERY on the memery stick. But that is hard so get a computer wiz to help you. Now if you don't mind I have to party.
no it's not 'cause r4 works as a memory stick where you can run DOWNLOADED games in your ds which is ILLEGAL.
In general, PSP games do not 'need' a memory stick for you to be able to play them, but they do need it to store saved game data as the PSP itself has no inbuilt space for that function.
