No it is not, though some knowledge will be of assistance to you in your accepting Christ as your saviour. Only through the Holy Spirit can we really come to know Christ. I have already given this advice to a previous question relating to Christ, I now give it to you. It is from James Ch. 1 v 5-8 Quote-5. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
The more you learn about Christ and apply His teachings in your life a better Christian you will become.
