In my opinion, this question is not so much one of legality, but of morality. Reasonably, in schools staffed and administrated by a religious body, one may possibly expect to be interviewed about their religious beliefs. However, if parents choose to have their children educated through the public system, I believe that is an invasion of privacy unless their children's religious beliefs bring them into conflict with their teachers and/or fellow students eg. Islamic female students who wear their traditional head covering. Arguments may erupt in the school grounds about the reason for wearing the head covering. If other students or teachers interfere with the wearing of the head covering or make denigrating remarks about the head covering, these could be seen as disruptive influences to the smooth running of the school system and may bring parents and school staff into conflict. This will cause moral conflict and possible legal action may ensue.
