There is a new firearms law for National parks that will take effect in late February 2010.
According to the National Park Service web site for Yellowstone the current rules are:
Firearms may be legally transported through the park in vehicles if they are unloaded, broken down so they can not be fired, cased and stored to prevent ready use. Firearms are prohibited anywhere in the park's backcountry.

The question cannot be answered without a known starting point.
You can not get directly to Yellowstone National Park by train. You can take the Empire Builder into northern Montana or the California Zephyr into Colorado and Utah. From those locations you will either need to travel by airplane or vehicle such as renting a car or RV or by bus.
hey it takes 3 hours
