Blubber is more important for the fact that it lives in extreme cold conditions and could NOT survive the tempeatures. The tusks on the other hand are used for achieving food, which obviously every living thing needs to survive but it can still hunt with them if there not as strong, because they can hunt in groups but they gotta adapt to the changes. All in all the blubber is the main key in walruses.
Hope this helps

A massive, artic sea carnivore having two tusks and a very large blubber.
It uses its sharp, powerful tusks to tear the flesh of its enemies.
The tusks of the walrus could kill the bear, but if the polar bear can get past the tusks it could kill the walrus.
