Most batteries these days are alkaline batteries. When they leak, one of the main substances (the part that makes it "alkaline") is potassium hydroxide, which is a strong base. If you use a Q-trip or paper towel dipped in a little vinegar (diluted) or water, you should be able to clean off the other batteries safely. As for the batteries that have already leaked, do not use them.
They mostly are likely to become very clean. In general, avoid having batteries in the washer.
Smaller batteries can be disposed of in the garbage. For larger batteries, or ones that state not to dispose of in garbage, can be disposed of at most garbage tips, which usually have a section to dispose of old batteries.
To safely remove corroded batteries from a flashlight, wear gloves and eye protection, then use a cotton swab or toothbrush dipped in vinegar or lemon juice to clean the corrosion. Gently scrub the affected area until the corrosion is removed. Dispose of the batteries properly and clean the battery compartment before inserting new batteries.
