No it is not normal, however, it does happen so often that it actually has its own name. Bruxism is the condition of grinding or excessively clenching the teeth while sleeping. It is only common between 8-31% of the population.

Why would a 2-year-old grind their teeth while sleeping - could it be a lack of iron?

Bruxism (The Posh Term For Grinding And Clenching Teeth) is really common and normally it is down to stress however as your 2 year old child is young it will problably relate to hyperactivity and in a matter of time the grinding and clenching during the night will stop. I used to grinde and clench my teeth all the time in my sleep and only recently stopped. Hope this helped x

Clenching and grinding of the teeth is called Bruxism. Some symptoms would be a sore jaw in the morning, possibly headaches and sensitive teeth.
