Swollen taste buds and a sore throat could be a sign of an infection. These infections could be a strep throat, mono or coxsackie. A physician would be able to do an examination to get a better idea of the issue.
You don't taste or smell 'blood', your coughing may irritate your lungs and the irritation may have you taste what you think is blood. As for the smell, you could be smelling the flem. The flem gets that kind of smell after being to much of an irritant to your lungs or throat.
I'm not totally sure, but it certainly did affect mine. I had an extreme case of strep throat and took amoxicillin for 8 days. It's been about a week now and food still doesn't taste the same. I really hope my taste buds get back to normal

I rinsed my mouth with a small amount of Pepsi (less carbonated than coke) and then swallowed (to get the blood that was still in my throat) and it worked great!
depends was it a ball or a hand?Response: Either. Please see my elaboration in the discussion page.Added: It is the taste of the blood running back into your sinuses and draining down into your throat. Blood has a taste that can be desdcribed as "metallic.'
A necklace. They constrict your throat, they glitter and if you lick them, they will taste of metal (the same taste as your blood.)
Its probably because you are dehydrated. Just drink water after you feel this way. It happens to many people.and the reason you get the blood taste is because heavy breathing dries out your throat which makes your throat raw like chapped lips can bleed your throat gets dry and raw. so yes drink more water. (oh and start using yahoo answers. you get more responses.)Other AnswerOkay. Everybody thinks it's blood, but it really isn't. I heard (from my gym teacher) that it is the metals present in your body. Your throat is dry so therefore you are able to taste the metal/blood taste. It's the metals in your body (like iron, for instance) that your taste buds pick up. Like the answer above, be sure to drink more water, don't panic and take deep breaths.*BTW, I'm not really sure if your veins can burst open. After all, health is not really my major in school.
