If you want to and are comfortable doing it. What you sleep in really isn't an issue. What you or he may feel like doing might be. He may be want to experiment and is trying to make you comfortable. It's no big deal, if you want to then do it and if you don't want to then don't. As far as the boxers, it is alright, or briefs if that's what you wear.
