Is it okay to take hydrocodone the day before going into surgery and will be given general anesthia?

I had the same question and checked with the GI nurse at Kaiser. She informed me that as long as it doesn't have Aspirin with it (usually hydrocodone has tylenol), it's okay to take. just not on the day of the procedure

If you're in pain, of course you should.
But if you have been told that you cannot eat and drink, then you should check with your doctor or nurse before.

∙ 11y agoThe red cross blood donation guidelines state, "In almost all cases, medications will not disqualify you as a blood donor. Your eligibility will be based on the reason that the medication was prescribed. As long as the condition is under control and you are healthy, blood donation is usually permitted."
The list of drugs which are not permitted does not contain hydrocodone. Thus, taking hydrocodone should cause no problems with the donation process. This medication should only be taken with a doctor's prescription.
