Tampons are supposed to be pushed all the way inside, they sit high in the vaginal canal - they can't go any further than your vaginal canal because the cervix at the top prevents them going any deeper. If the tampon is too far in for you to reach then push with vaginal muscles and squat.

You should not be wearing tampons when sleeping as most people sleep around 7-8 hours, tampons need to be changed every 4-6 hours and even if you set an alarm there is a risk of oversleeping. You also need to alternate with pads and overnight is the best time for this. Misusing tampons such as leaving them in too long will increase your risk of contacting Toxic shock syndrome or cause vaginal infections such as Bacterial Vaginosis.

The vagina is about 8 to 12 centimetres (3 to 5 inches) in length. It is possible that a tampon moves back into the vagina, but it cannot pass into the cervix. If this has happened, you may need to reach your fingers in to find it.

The vagina is only around 4-5 inches in length, during menstruation it's likely to be even shorter as the cervix dips down lower during menstruation. Thus a tampon cannot go that deep, it cannot go past your cervix into the uterus only to the side of the cervix at most. As long as you relax you can remove the tampon, it will not get permanently stuck inside your vagina: it's not possible.

Although rare, it does occur (swimming is another way this can happen). Careful examination and manipulation is usually sufficient to find and extract it when this happens.

When you insert a tampon does it go past the muscle and right in with the string hanging out or sights on the muscle with the end of the tampon visible?

The tampon goes all the way into the vaginal canal - if that's what you mean by the muscle, as the vaginal canal is essentially a muscular tube. The whole tampon goes into the vagina and quite deep, it wouldn't even be near the vaginal opening once it is inserted so certainly wouldn't hang out. All that hangs out is the tampon string for easy removal, that is if you use a tampon with a string.

How can you get out a tampon with no string?

You don't need a string to remove a tampon, strings are simply added to some tampons to make removal easier - many cloth tampons, sponge tampons, and soft tampons don't have strings. There are also other items like menstrual cups, softcups, diaphragms, and caps that don't require strings. All you need to do is insert your [clean] fingers vaginally and pull the tampon out by grabbing the tampon itself. If you struggle to remove the tampon be sure to relax, get into a squatting position and push down on vaginal muscles to move the tampon closer to the vaginal opening. If you still can't remove the tampon ask a friend/family member to help you, or you'll need to go to your doctor as leaving a tampon in over 4-6 hours increases risks of infections and TSS.

Can your tampon get lost in your vagina?

No, you cannot lose your tampon inside your vagina.Your vagina is only a few inches long, and a tampon can go no further than your vaginal canal because the cervix stops it from going any further than that. If you have a tampon in your vagina then it's not going to get lost, you know exactly where it is and can remove it. Someone forgetting a tampon does not mean it is possible to lose a tampon in the vagina.

How do you insert a tampon for the first time without it hurting?

Alright, I'm going to answer this because I am extremely happy I don't have to wear pads anymore and I just efficiently used my first tampon and I want to help others. First, make sure you know where your vagina is. Get the tampon opened and ready (after you washed your hands) and you HAVE to RELAX. Take a deep breath and let it out slowly and think of something happy and calm. To be honest, I tried the one leg on the toilet seat thing but it didn't work for me. I eventually ended up on my back on the floor with my legs spread out. Start feeling around with the tampon.. I know this sounds weird, but you'll understand why once you try. If you try putting the tampon in and it just "pops" back out, you haven't found the right hole. It happened to me. So feel around and aim the tampon back towards your waist a tiny bit and there should feel like ANOTHER hole in your vagina. If you find it the tampon slides right in really easily. I really hope this helps!!

If drinking heavily and couldn't get an erection how likely is it to get a women pregnant?

To get a woman pregnant semen has to come in contact with the vagina. It is possible to ejaculate without an erection, did you ejaculate? And if so did the ejaculate come in contact with her vagina? Without an erection it would be difficult to deposit the semen deep within her vagina so it would be more difficult to get pregnant but I suppose if you ejaculated without an erection then took the ejaculate and pushed it into her vagina then it would be possible.

If you lose a tampon inside of you will you still bleed?

It is not possible to completely "lose" a tampon inside yourself.Your vagina can only go so deep, then there is a wall with a very small opening that only stretches when it's time to give birth called the cervix. This wall actually protects your body from that very accident, and from any other foreign bodies entering your innards that shouldn't be there. However, the string of a tampon can break from the tampon, thus making you believe that it can be lost inside of you completely. Never fear, though, it can be retrieved. If you are unable to get it yourself, you must see your OB/GYN or the ER immediately because leaving it inside for too long can cause a bacterial growth or TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome). It might be embarrassing, but it's imperative. They will be able to remove it.

How deep do you put a tampon?

If you will notice, there are two parts to a tampon., A small skinny part and the wider part that holds the absorbant material. Place your fingers on the wider part that houses the aborbant matieral, insert the applicator all the way until you feel your fingers touch your vagina. Then push the skinny part up and remove the applicator. The applicator is that size so that the tampon can go in far enough without you having to use a ruler(!)
