Tampons are supposed to be pushed all the way inside, they sit high in the vaginal canal - they can't go any further than your vaginal canal because the cervix at the top prevents them going any deeper. If the tampon is too far in for you to reach then push with vaginal muscles and squat.
You should not be wearing tampons when sleeping as most people sleep around 7-8 hours, tampons need to be changed every 4-6 hours and even if you set an alarm there is a risk of oversleeping. You also need to alternate with pads and overnight is the best time for this. Misusing tampons such as leaving them in too long will increase your risk of contacting Toxic shock syndrome or cause vaginal infections such as Bacterial Vaginosis.

∙ 13y agoThe vagina is about 8 to 12 centimetres (3 to 5 inches) in length. It is possible that a tampon moves back into the vagina, but it cannot pass into the cervix. If this has happened, you may need to reach your fingers in to find it.

∙ 9y agoThe vagina is only around 4-5 inches in length, during menstruation it's likely to be even shorter as the cervix dips down lower during menstruation. Thus a tampon cannot go that deep, it cannot go past your cervix into the uterus only to the side of the cervix at most. As long as you relax you can remove the tampon, it will not get permanently stuck inside your vagina: it's not possible.

The tampon goes all the way into the vaginal canal - if that's what you mean by the muscle, as the vaginal canal is essentially a muscular tube. The whole tampon goes into the vagina and quite deep, it wouldn't even be near the vaginal opening once it is inserted so certainly wouldn't hang out. All that hangs out is the tampon string for easy removal, that is if you use a tampon with a string.

Take a deep breath and let it out slowly and think of something happy and calm. To be honest, I tried the one leg on the toilet seat thing but it didn't work for me. I eventually ended up on my back on the floor with my legs spread out. Start feeling around with the tampon.. I know this sounds weird, but you'll understand why once you try. If you try putting the tampon in and it just "pops" back out, you haven't found the right hole. It happened to me. So feel around and aim the tampon back towards your waist a tiny bit and there should feel like ANOTHER hole in your vagina. If you find it the tampon slides right in really easily.
