After completion of diploma in mechanical engineering you can pursue any branch you want it's possible to take admission in any branch you like. See there is not much difference in both the branches most of the syllabus is same in both branches but in automobile you will study few subjects related to the branch and will provide you more knowledge of automobile than others.
