It is definitely possible and currently being done by a few facilities. The Reef Farm (http://www.reeffarm.com) is one of these facilities and has been operating as a commercial coral aquaculture facility for several years now.

In the coming years I think you will see more and more of this type of facility emerge as the early pioneers begin to show the viability of the concept.
