Semen should only be present in urine if you urinate immediately after ejaculation. The semen still resting in your penis will then be flushed out as the urine makes it way out of the body. Your body will not normally have semen in its urine because when you ejaculate, you bladder does not let out any urine. Also, when you urinate, your body will not let semen come out even though the tube coming from your bladder and the tube coming from you seminal vesicle both lead to a common tube, the urethra.

Normally, no. Sperm cannot survive in an acid environment. So the man's body first sends "pre-cum" through the urethra. This is also known as Cowper's fluid, and it's a chemical base that neutralizes any left-over urine. (Unfortunately, it can also occasionally carry viable sperm into the vagina, so if you want to prevent pregnancy you need to put on a condom before the Cowper's fluid is released.)

First, let's go over what a urinalysis or urine analysis (UA) is and what it can show and how. A UA is a simple "pee in a cup" test done in the doctor's office. In a hospital setting, it can be used as a prelminaary test to guide diagnostic and treatment options prior to getting back results from a "Clean Catch" Culture. UA does not culture but instead uses test strips, while Clean Catch is sent to a lab for cultures .

All UA tests will show (or rule out) the following things as components of the urine:

  1. Appearance - color and turbidity (clear, cloudy, milky, etc.)
  2. odor - example: Diabetics often have orange-odor to urine.
  3. specific gravity within a certain range
  4. pH within a certain range
  5. glucose (should not be found)
  6. ketones (should not be found)
  7. proteins (should not be found)
  8. red blood cells (should not be found)
  9. blood cell casts (should not be found)
  10. nitrites (should not be found)
  11. and leukocyte esterase. (should not be found)

Healthy urine should not show the items marked above as "(should not be found)".

Each of these things, if abnormal, can indicate (not prove but just indicate) different conditions such as:

If there are indications of a condition, further testing is needed and ordered, such as Urine Culture and Sensitivity (C&S).

Lab Cultures (Clean Catch Urine C&S)

Lab Cultures are focused on culturing the urine for different types of bacteria. First, they use a microscope to "count" bacteria per mml of urine, then culture the urine. Therefore, the lab is not looking for and is not interested in the presence of sperm.

Lab Cultures after Rape

Urine tests for women after rape might show sperm, but lab techs are primarily looking for sperm in vaginal smears taken as part of the rape kit.

So, long answer to short answer: No, labs won't be interested in whether a female's urine contains male sperm.

No. The male anatomy is structured so that urine and sperm do not mix.
