Mars is not as close to Earth as Venus is, but it probably is the only planet in our
solar system that we can colonize. But living there won't be simple.
Mars is poorly suited for human habitation. There's some ice at the poles and perhaps
some water in underground repositories. Gravity is only 38 percent as strong as on
Earth. The atmosphere is thin and consists mostly of carbon dioxide (95%). So
colonists would have to either take air from Earth or make air on Mars. Plants
efficiently separate the oxygen bound to carbon and therefore can make air we can
breathe, so colonists should take plants along.
The Martian atmosphere is too thin to hold oxygen, which would just escape to space.
So the plants would have to be cultivated in greenhouses and the oxygen they produce
kept in flasks.
Mars has a very weak magnetic field, and its atmosphere offers little protection
against radiation from space. So the Martian colonists would have to build radiation
protection into their houses and wear thick suits. Unlike Earth, where most incoming
meteorites burn up in the atmosphere, many meteorites crash dangerously onto the
surface of Mars.
The Martian weather is awful. It's cold: the average temperature of the southern
hemisphere is minus 60 degrees Celsius; even at the equator, it's seldom over zero.
Winds are fierce and blow at speeds of several hundred kilometres an hour, and
storms can last for months. The wind whirls up fine dust that penetrates everything
and sticks to all surfaces, which literally would toss sand in the gears of vital
mechanical and electronic equipment.
Today, there are no concrete, approved plans for sending people to Mars. The earliest
date mentioned in official papers is 2019, which would be 50 years after the first Moon
landing.
Scientists are still trying to figure out if there is the right materials for humans to
survive on Mars. They sent Rovers up onto Mars to see images of whether there is
water (they found ice), and if they have the right air (such as oxygen).
=============================
Humans can live anywhere, provided they take along the conditions that humans
require in order to live. That means air containing oxygen and no poisonous gases,
pressure controlled within a suitable narrow range, temperature controlled within
a suitable narrow range, shielding from harmful radiation, and opportunity for
sufficient physical exercise and suitable psychological environment.
In other words, humans can live in any place that can be made to resemble the
surface of the Earth closely enough.
There are many ways people could think of to live on m\Mars, but not many of them are practical.
The most likely way is first to find out if mars' atmosphere contains CO2, if it does then Mars' atmosphere could be made like ours. Bring plants along with soil and in some time Mars would have oxygen, due to the process of photosynthesis.
This would also work on the Moon.
yes people can live on mars but the only thing we would need is a space suit and a way to get there and possibly some food and water. and an interesting fact on the way to mars our bones would dissolve because our bones are not needed on mars, and it would also take us 3 earth years to get there!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure but scientists are looking into it!
That is probably the first planet we will colonize, A human could but it has no atmosphere. If we could create one for it or live in something enclosed then we can use the planet.
It would be very hard to live on mars because there is a very weak atmosphere, and no ozone protection but scientist are trying to figure a way to repair ozones so if that works and we are able to tap into the water that is frozen in the north and south poles as well as fertilise the soil then YES we would be able to live on Mars. Pretty cool when you think about it aye??
no we can't because there in no air only glacier which is not able to drink.
Yes it is possible to colonize mars. We would first need to make an atmosphere creating device, which is already being developed. Then, we would need airtight green houses in order to create oxygen. After that, food would need to be transported, but it would be impossible to plant in the ground so we would deeply rely on greenhouses, etc. The colonization of mars is in discussion currently. If the pollution rate rises and we do not fix it, within 400 years, we will be required to move to mars. Sadly, you will never be able to visit mars anytime soon.
Hope this helped
No, you would die on contact before you could blink.
At present it is not possible. Without huge financial and technical investment, which it is not likely to be given any time soon, it can be ruled out in the foreseeable future.
No. Humans only live on Earth. There is likely no life at all on Mars.
Mars is the most Earth-like of all the planets in our solar system (not including Earth itself). While it would certainly not be easy for human beings to live on Mars, it would nonetheless be easier for human beings to live on Mars, than it would be for them to live on Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, or Neptune. So in terms of interplanetary colonization, Mars seems to be the best bet.
John Glenn has never been to Mars, nor has any other human being.
Yes, in the coming years there will be people to live on the moon and even mars. It could still take a 100 years.
To date no human has been to Mars.
NO they can't it is to cold to live there
Mars is no place for a human being. There is no breathable oxygen and no water, which are both things that humans need to survive.
Without a spacesuit, airtight building or other breathing apparatus, a human could live for about 3 minutes on Mars. With the right equipment, a human can live indefinitely on Mars.
Unless you live in a space housing environment specially created for human live on Mars, you would need a space suit to live on Mars, just as you would on the Moon. Mars has very little atmosphere, the temperatures are usually very cold. There is a good possibility of being hit by solar radiation. Mars has no life on it that we know of, and a human being would probably die, if they tried to live there without protection from a well designed, enclosed building, or a space suit.
mars
for what i have studied nobody has be able to live on Mars because there is no oxygen and every human being needs oxygen to live, and also it is too cold beucase it is fartter from the sun.
Because Mars does not have an atmosphere suitable for human life.
Yes

As of date (Dec. 2011) no human being has been to Mars.
