I think that it is perfectly fine for an adult to date a teenager. That being said, teenager encompasses a broad range of ages (13-19). Age is not everything, as all people mature at a different pace. I think that in order for the relationship to be acceptable, the teenager should be mature enough to understand the complexities of a dating relationship. Should the relationship remain asexual, there is not much to be concerned about. If the relationship evolves into a sexual one, it is important to understand the laws of your state regarding age of consent. In most states the age at which a teenager can legally have a sexual relationship with an adult is 16, some states this age is 17 or 18. Always be cognizant of the laws in your area, as the penalties for engaging in illegal sex with a minor are often very draconian.
