You can leave a job before finding another one but I've done it and I don't think it is a good idea as there can be lots of awkward questions asked about why you left your old job and if you tell the truth eg hated the boss as she was a workaholic or had a clash of personalities with my co-worker it would definitely negatively affect your chances of getting the new job. Also from a financial point of view if you have debts to pay it makes sense to find another job before quitting the old one so you aren't suddenly in the position of having no money and it sometimes takes some time to find another one if you are the one making the choice to leave rather than feeling that you have to quit.
It is foolish to leave a job before finding another one. With the troublesome world economy, it could take a long time to find other employment.
Say that it wasn't the right job for you.

That all depends on whether you have money in the bank. If you can live without having a job for a while, then quit, however it is easier to find a job when you are working. For some reason employers like to see people that have jobs, not unemployed people.

The first step in finding the right job would be to look into different jobs that you qualify for with your degree. Knowing your personal interests is also a big factor in finding the right fit. Once you have some idea of what you want from your job, work environment, co-workers, etc., you can ask family and friends (your network) if they have heard of jobs in that field.
