Definitely not by yourself. If you're absolutely sure the swelling is gone, go have your piercer change it out. Its really important that they measure the right bar to prevent gum, enamel erosion or chipped teeth. They'll also use sterilized jewelry, which is super important with a new piercing

Can a tongue ring be removed safely?

Yes! But try not to remove it within the first week of getting it pierced. Let the area heal, it is an open wound and very sore. After that, you just need to hold on to one end and unscrew the ball on the other end. It's usually easier to unscrew the top one.

Is it a good thing to get your tongue pierced?

no ! its muscle it will never close !! I call BS on that answer. The tongue is actually one of the fastest to heal where piercings are concerned. It'll leave a pretty mean divot depending on how bad the swelling was when it was pierced, but mine healed up within 3 hours. As far as whether it's good or not, I loved it, but it will always be a matter of opinion, don't depend on other people to tell you what's good for you. If you like it, get it.

How long will it take to stop hurting when you get your tongue pierced?

When I got my tongue pierced a few years ago it was fairly swollen and semi-painful for about a week or so. After that it only would hurt when I accidentally would pull it during eating or something. Number one, eat before getting it pierced! Sounds stupid but you wont be able to eat to your hearts content for a little while due to the swelling and pain. Carry around a water bottle with alcohol free mouthwash and water, half and half. Always rinse your mouth out after eating. I would suck on ice and drink ice water and popsicles and stuff. All these things will keep the swelling and pain down significantly. It really shouldnt hurt hurt after a week or so, but getting used to eating is the hardest part. After a few weeks or a month or so it should be pretty healed.

How soon can you change a Tongue ring?

It is generally recommended to wait at least 4-6 weeks before changing a tongue ring to allow the piercing to heal properly. Changing the jewelry too soon can lead to irritation, infection, or complications in the healing process. It's best to consult with a professional piercer for specific advice based on your individual healing progress.

What do i do if there is a bump on my tongue piercing but it doesn't hurt will it go away?

If you've just recently gotten your tongue pierced and there is a white bump either on the top or bottom of your tongue, that is completely normal, This is a scab, but because it's on the inside of your mouth, it has absorbed moisture and has turned white. It will eventually go away, It should leave within 3 weeks. If it doesn't consult your piercer. ( I am a piercer myself therefor I know what I am talking about and I have ran into this situation a few times before) I hope it helped!
