Fortunately most of the things, including clams, are dead when we eat them.
Except for oysters, of course. Oysters are .... different.
If it is well prepared (cooked, roasted or whatever we do with clams) and you didn´t find it on the beach, rotting and a bit like goo ... why not?
I would hope all clams are dead when they are eaten.
As long as they have not been dead too long.
One should however be careful when eating seafood like clams.
They decompose quite quickly when they have died so I would recommend to only eat those you can be sure of is alive when you boil/steam them.
Clams are quite delichious. I always throw away those clams that are dead and those that I am unsure about. Try steamboiling the clams with a cup of white wine, a clove of garlic, a sliced onion and a sprinkle of black powdered pepper. It certainly does something to the taste. What that is good to start with gets even better.
Most clams are consumed dead. You wouldn't want to consume them if they were not properly refrigerated as they can spoil like anything else.
Well, considering that you can't physically eat a crab when it's alive, it has to be dead.
Of course
No! Not if you found them dead on a beach, or let live ones die on a kitchen counter. The only dead clams you can safely consume are frozen ones.
Many crabs are frozen to be sold in stores or they are fresh in fish markets. Yes, as long as they are fairly fresh.
No! They taste awful

can cherrystone clams be eaten on the half-shell
If a clam does not open when cooked, that usually means the clam was dead before cooking. Do not eat clams that won't open when cooked. Make sure that the clams have plenty of space to open during the cook. Sometimes the weight on top will prevent opening.
No. Clams that are dead will open up. Live ones use their muscles to stay shut. This rule works with mussles and oysters too. Hooweestik.
Clams may be eaten all year round in most places. In some places though clams are only in season for a short period of time. Check with your department of natural resources to find out the season duration in your area.

They feed on them and then the clams would overpopulate the beds if not eaten.
nothing. A dead fish does not eat.
When dead, by ants.
Seafood (like salmon or clams) and chicken are good for a meal with a side of jasmine rice.
Well generally you need to feed them and make sure they dont get eaten by other fish.
The difference between oysters and cherry stone clams are that oysters can be eaten raw and cherry stone clams can not. Cherry stone clams have a hard shell. The East Coast clam is of medium size , about 2 to 3 inches across. Oysters can be batter fried, shucked into soups and can be found canned, frozen and smoked.
