You'll have to get a piercer to check it out. If its sever scarring, they may not be able to insert the dermal. Piercing scare tissue can be pretty painful as well. Just get it checked out!

When someone get their navel pierced do the people take out a chunk of skin?

No. Piercing simply displaces the skin, just moves it over. Dermal punches are what actually removes the tissue.

Can you get a tattoo over a microdermal piercing?

I'm pretty sure you'd need to get the tattoo then the piercing, as it could be really hard for the tattooist to work around the dermal, especially if it's new.

Why do nose piercings grow over so quickly?

Well the piercing transverses several tissue types on it's way from the surface of the skin to the inside of the nose. Not all tissue types heal at the same rate, nor do they react the same way to piercing. I have simplified the layers below so you get a better basic understanding of what is involved in nostril piercing. 1) Surface dermal layer 2) Subdural layer 3) Cartilage layer 4) Mucosa layer So when you remove jewellery before the allowed time (based on the average healing period for a healthly individual following aftercare instructions) the tissue layers may close quickly, but not actually heal up. To get jewellery back in when this happens an insertion taper ( only available at body piercing studios ) is used to gently open the piercing path to allow jewellery to be reinsterted. Some studios charge a small fee for doing this for you.

Do you have to have dimples to get a dimple piercing or does the piercing create the dimple?

Dimple piercing is like dermal anchors, it's not a smart move, prone to scarring and infection. Scarring is the worst of all the issues. Messing with facial connective tissue and muscle operation is just about the worst idea out there so far and highly over rated. Avoid this at all costs, 20 years from now you will be glad you did. Generally done where dimples exist currently then again I warned you.

Where is the backing on a chest piercing?

Let me help you out, there are two methods to this piercing. The first is a simple surface barbell piercing that travels under the skin layer between the skin and muscle layer. The second is a process called dermal anchoring where the jewellery ( a dermal anchor ) is placed in a hole created into the skin layer down to the muscle layer, the jewellery has a metal "foot" that "anchors" the jewellery into the skin. With dermal anchors the problems arise from infection, rejection and snagging of the jewellery which results in nasty scarring and in some cases heavy short term bleeding depending on the placement location. I need to tell you that this is not kid stuff, this is serious body modification and will not be done on anyone who is not an "*adult" (* being the age of majority and considered an adult by your federal government). Dermal anchoring must be done by an experienced professional body piercer who has received training in the procedure not some clown with a few done on you tube. Dermal anchoring is illegal in some US states so check with your local health inspection office to see if it's legal in your area. Because it's more body modification than body piercing and the dermal anchor can't be removed like normal piercing jewellery can, it's removal must be done by a licensed doctor. Yes body piercers can not remove dermal anchors without being a licensed doctor in many places and countries (practicing medicine without a license). Surface piercings are just that they have and entry and exit point and are not as nasty to deal with as dermal anchors can be from a piercing stand point. They are less apt to be snagged and can be changed with the aid of a professional body piercer and can be removed without the legal hassles or dermal anchors. From an infection stand point surface piercings are easier to treat and clean over the dermals but be sure you find and experienced professional body piercer to do the piercing for you. Again this still isn't something you want to try at home, serious life long injuries can result from poor placement and lack of knowledge.

When can you stop lip rings becoming irreversible?

Any time you wish, as long as the piercing is over a year old you can remove it and the tissue will shrink down and over time (several months) the piercing will close completely.

Why does a bump form when you take your piercing out?

Probably scar tissue. Once its healed over, you can use mederma or BioOil to help make the scar tissue less noticeable.

How long can you leave your modonna piercing out before it closes up?

Oral to dermal piercings will close from the inside to the outside. If the piercing is over a year old then you may get a day to 48 hours out of it before it tries to close up. Under a year you may be lucky to get a few hours.

Can your repierce a closed piercing?

It would be better not to do it in the same place - scar tissue is harder to pierce without tearing, and it hurts worse. Try moving the piercing over a little bit.

How bad does a tongue piercing hurt in comparison to a dermal anchor?

I've never had a dermal anchor piercing but I can imagine they hurt quite a bit depending where on the body you get it. But I had my tongue pierced just over a year ago and I didn't feel a thing. Because the tongue is a muscle, the needle just slips through the layers rather than piercing through it. It can be uncomfortable afterwards, but it just feels like a muscle ache but in your tongue, and it does swell up, but mine was completely fine after 5 days of having it done. x

How noticeable are the scars from a bridge piercing?

Well as long as there has been no issues with the healing of the piercing, and the piercing has been allowed to season (is over a year old) the entry and exit points will be about the same skin tone as the surrounding tissue. So the "scar" wouldn't be too noticeable.
