It is no more dangerous than cooking over a campfire, barbeque or with a gas oven. Provided the fire isn't smoky and is burning nicely, it should fine.
Gasoline may have additive residues that will be neither good for you or might taste awful. The same is true with the oil, depending upon the type of oil used.

∙ 9y agoNo, the company recommends that you not cook directly over the flame since food can drip onto the flame and cause flareups. Chemically, it should not be all that bad. There are heat difusers that you can buy or make.

∙ 12y agoNo, not really. Charcoal lighter has a much lower chance of lighting with the explosive force that gasoline can. When dealing with open fire, safer is always better.
