Yes you can but, however you must always let your Dr. know that those are your intentions. If you , after monitoring your blood pressures at home see that they are well under the norm, let's say 100/60 then consider talking to your doctor. Make sure that you are monitoring your pressures every day so you, can then show the readings to your doctor. You must first be very knowledgeable about B/P . Your stress must be well under control and so does your diet..salt intake. I am in the process of trying to get off my B/P medication. I have taken couple of classes given by my health providers , have adapted a very low salt diet and and of course exercise. Again you can stop, but only if you commit to making the necessary lifestyles changes. High B/P is no joke, people take their little pills given by their doctors and continue the same old lifestyles. The pill only treat the symptoms. The stress, the poor diet and so on are still there doing other damage. This body of ours is so magnificent. Take care of it, and it will take care of you. To good health.......

Probably not a good idea since you're taking the blood pressure meds because your doctor prescribed them. I would talk to the doc if you are considering not taking them anymore.

How do you safely get off blood pressure medication?

When you discontinue blood pressure lowering medication, your body will naturally respond with a rise in blood pressure back to whatever levels would be present without the drug. Most blood pressure lowering medication has a dose-dependent effect. It thus can be eased off gradually, allowing you to take other measures to lower your blood pressure. If your blood pressure was high enough that you needed drugs, it is necessary to take other measures to lower your blood pressure in order for you to safely ease off the medication. Fortunately, there are numerous safe and natural ways to lower blood pressure without requiring any medication. These include diet (low salt, low sugar, low caffeine, low alcohol, and high in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and fish), and lifestyle changes (regular aerobic exercise, and low stress levels). There are also some herbal remedies, such as hibiscus tea, which are effective at lowering blood pressure but are much safer than prescription medications that have the same effect. Very few people actually need to be on medication in order to lower their blood pressure. Antihypertensive medication should be a last resort, for cases where other natural approaches have been exhausted and blood pressure is dangerously high. If you take a serious effort to lower your blood pressure through diet, exercise, and stress reduction, you will probably be able to ease off blood pressure medication very safely.
