Probably NOT A GOOD IDEA! Librium is used for anxiety and very popular for alcohol detox. Drinking alcohol and taking Librium will increase the side effects and could cause you to have seizures, coma, or death.
Why do withdrawals from barbiturates and alcohol have a greater risk of death?
Both pose a threat of blood pressure spikes and seizures.

You can take Valium, with Lithium, when prescribed by your physician. Metaxalon and Valium, both are a muscle relaxants. They should not be prescribed together. Hydrocodone and Valium, both are sedatives. They should not be prescribed together.

Both Xanax (alprazolam) and Valium (diazepam) are benzodiazepines and both should be detected in a test for benzodiazepines. However they can be tested for separately. Valium is also detectable longer than Xanax.
Librium for alcohol withdrawal-recommended dosage?
I heard that its typically 25mg every 6hrs --- I've detoxed numerous times off of alcohol both inpatient and out and it varies depending upon seizure activity and agitation. For delirium tremens (DT's, the more extreme level of alcohol withdrawal, characterized by shaking, sweating, puking, rapid rise in heart rate and blood pressure, and if untreated can lead to seizures, strokes, heart attacks.) the typical starting dose is 50MG every 4 hours, up to 100MG every 4 hours under medical supervision (And sometimes even higher with breathing support). For mild withdrawals (Anxiety, mild tremors, upset stomach, ect) 25MG might be about right.
Is Ativan a form of Valium?
Ativan is in the same family as Valium. They are both Benzodiazepines. Ativan is about 10 times stronger in terms of DOSE than Valium. They are two different chemicals but have similar effects. Some make you sleepier, and some work more at anxiety. I think Ativan is better than Valium at reducing anxiety but Valium makes you sleepier. But they are both similar so you probably won't notice the difference.
