Some may be, but most found so far are not Earth-like. Also, no life forms have been found yet. Currently we do not have the technology that would allow us to determine whether an exoplanet has life.
exoplanets
Planets that are not part of our solar system and in other solace systems are called exo-solar planets or exoplanets.
Extra solar (or Exo) planets are planets that do not orbit the Sun. Planets in our solar system orbit the Sun.
Over 900 planets have been discovered orbiting other stars. These are called exoplanets.
Exoplanets refers to planets to that have been found orbiting stars other than the sun.
That doesn't make sense. There are stars, and there are planets. If you mean "planets around stars, other than the Sun", those are usually called "extrasolar planets" or "exoplanets".
Absolutely. We are finding more and more planets [Exoplanets] around other stars everyday.
There 8 proper planets in our solar system, and several planetoids, including Pluto. Any other planet-like world around other stars are called exoplanets.
by observing the slight dip in brightness of the central star as the planet transits
Yes. They are called "exoplanets" and they orbit other stars. They have only been detected recently.
Well, I'm not sure but I read in a book that in year 2015 a spacecraft named Darwin will be launched to look for Earthlike planets. Onboard telescopes will then analize the light from the planets that might have been produced by living things.
They're all distant. The gas giants (Jupiter, Saturn) are more distant than the inner planets (Mars, Venus). Exoplanets (planets around other stars are even (far) more distant.
