Armaments factories were notorious for accidents during both World Wars due to the immense pressure that the workforce was under and also because of the high quantity of explosive materials that they were assembling, which led to a significant raising of safety standards afterwards, but WW2 was just one of the reasons why factory safety has got better over the decades, and the process is still ongoing.
