No- factories and other workplaces have undergone a steadily increasing process of health and safety policies ever since the late 19th Century, largely due to fear of legal action being taken against them by any of their employees who are victims of accidents at work. Armaments factories were notorious for accidents during both World Wars due to the immense pressure that the workforce was under and also because of the high quantity of explosive materials that they were assembling, which led to a significant raising of safety standards afterwards, but WW2 was just one of the reasons why factory safety has got better over the decades, and the process is still ongoing.
