The story goes that Bahirah, a Christian monk, saw a caravan in which Muhammad was travelling at a young age. From a long distance, Bahirah noticed that one part of the caravan was always shaded by a cloud. He knew this was one of the signs of the coming of the Last Prophet. When Muhammad's caravan came to where he was, Bahirah looked for the person at the center of that shaded area. He found Muhammad. Bahirah then found a way to see Muhammad's shoulder blades. When he found that Muhammad had a birth-mark in between his shoulder blades he knew that, in fact, this is the Final Prophet of God. So bahirah went to Muhammad's guardian and told him that "this boy will be a great person - guard him and protect him from people who may want to harm him". He never taught Muhammad. Muhammad did not know that he was to be a Prophet until the age of forty, when God called him to declare the message.
