vampire bats are nocturnal so that is when they are awake
Vampires, if you go by the way they are in Dracula, can go out in day, but lose their powers (no sparkling). Because of this, they usually only go out at night when they are strong, but they can go out in day if needed. So they only feed at night when they can use their hypnotic powers.
