Is it true the US flag is considered a living thing because it represents a living country?

It can be considered anything. It can also represent patriotism to the extreme. In order to be alive, it must be capable of replicating itself. Flags are not alive. The country on the other hand does grow although it can theoretically also lose population. The code says it is alive, but biologically it cannot be. Figuratively it can be if congress wills it, which it has. But just as a corporation is not alive, congress also says a corporation is a person and the flag is alive. Are they? NO....
