No they are not a scam. They have been there for several years and have many success stories. They are higher priced than some acting schools you could go to, but they are the only school that provides an audition every month with an agent or casting director from LA or NYC. Thus, if they advertise they offer "classes" for a price, most schools charge a price, it is not a scam. There are much lower priced classes, though, than John Robert Powers. No school, studio or person (besides an agent themself) can promise you representation by an agent or agency. An acting career can and is fleeting and for many, never really happens as a lucrative career. It is competitive and training is necessary, long before agents become involved. An agent can have a contract for 10-20% of any earnings you receive from jobs you book. It is not unusual to have an agent ask for 20%. 10% is standard, but not the rule.
