Honest answer: I wouldn't advise it. The canine's handler is very likely to view it that way.
As a legal matter the perpetrator would be charged with the "Destruction of Government Property."
Legally, killing a police dog is not considered the same as killing a police officer. However, it is a serious offense that can result in criminal charges and significant penalties. Police dogs are considered valuable members of law enforcement and attacking or killing them is a crime that is treated with severity.
yes killing a police dog is just the same as a human officer .
if the dog had attacked you after a command from the controlling officer, say grabberd your arm or leg to stop you running away then yes - assaulting a police dog is the same as assaulting a police officer! On the other hand if the dog then went wild and tried to tear you to pieces, say was trying to get at your throat then you would be able to defend yourself - but only if the dog was obviously out of control. If a police dog just attacks you for no reason (say runs away from a plice officer at an airport and tries to savage you) then yes you could defend yourself.
Killing or harming a police dog is a crime. A police dog is considered a police officer, despite not being human. Therefore by harming a police dog you are effectively harming a police officer in the eyes of the law. Police dogs are also very expensive to train and maintain. So not only would you be harming a police asset but you would also be angering the national treasury and taxpayers for wasting their money. Kicking or punching a police dog is a crime, unless the dog attacked for no reason, then it is self defence and acceptable. Otherwise you'll be jailed for harming the police dog. Killing a police dog, unless in self defence (except where the dog was set upon you by police) will also result in jail.
yes! dogs have personalities and they are living things....but you wouldn't get as much time in jail....say 5 2 10 years in prison
You would call him/her the chief of police.
Not unless they have a police officer with them AND they have a search warrant.
yes obviously ...
A dog is a very loyal and intelligent pet.The police dog tracked down the suspect and clamped his jaws in his leg.In the UK, killing a police dog carries the same penalty as murdering a police officer. The dog next door is very cute.
K9 officers are generally POST-certified police officers. You may want to check within your own state though, as the specifics may vary. Now, to be a police K9 trainer, it is usually not a requirement to be a police officer.
DAD. The police officer and his family IS the dog's family. To what extent the dog is treated depends on what the job of the dog on duty is. When a canine officer is retired, it goes home to stay permanently. Their years of being on patrol are limited. Their hearing, vision and smell are pretty much the judgement call.
Yes, it is a natural hunter, and easy trainable.
"K-9" is a bastardization of "Canine". K-9 units usually consist of a Handler or dog trainer and a police dog.
